You Meet the Person Who May Attend Your Birth
Birthstone does not use anonymous matching. Care is provided by Tayna Chessman, LM, CPM, or one designated doula partner. You meet personally before your plan is finalized.
Tayna is a California Licensed Midwife, Certified Professional Midwife, experienced birth and postpartum doula, and professional doula trainer. The practice combines doula-centered emotional support with a deep understanding of birth environments and family needs.

Birth Doula Questions
Where do you attend births?
In-person birth doula care is currently limited to families planning to give birth at a Murrieta birth location. This keeps support reliable and allows the small team to remain close to clients in labor.
When does my doula come to me?
In-person support generally begins during active labor according to the plan created with you. You receive guidance before arrival, and timing is based on your labor pattern, coping needs, location, and agreed care plan.
Does a doula replace my doctor, nurse, or midwife?
No. Your medical team manages clinical care and makes medical recommendations. Your doula provides nonclinical emotional, physical, informational, and partner support.
Will my partner still have a role?
Absolutely. Your doula helps your partner feel confident, involved, and connected. The goal is to strengthen your support team, not replace the person you love.
Can you support an epidural or cesarean birth?
Yes. Doula care can support medicated labor, unmedicated labor, induction, planned cesarean, and changes that arise during birth, subject to hospital policies.
Is insurance coverage guaranteed?
No. Benefits differ by plan. We verify eligibility, authorization requirements, covered services, and known cost sharing before care begins.
